Practice Information
Appointments: Please call for sick appointments as early as possible in the morning after 8:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday. Appointment times are available from 9:00 a.m. till 4:30 p.m. with a lunch break from 12:30-2:00 p.m.. Routine well child care appointments are best made at least 3-4 weeks ahead of time. Please make these calls after 10:30 a.m. to allow for the sick appointment calls.
Phone calls: Please share your problems and questions with our nusring staff. They are Registered Nurses and can answer most questions and can give approved advice. If your problem exceeds their scope or is urgent in nature they will summon the pediatrician promptly. Please help us better answer your call by indicating whether it is: for an appointment ( you don't need to convince the nurse first), a billing or insurance question, or a question for a nurse. Please limit after hours and weekend calls to those you feel are absolutely necessary. We have your child's medical records in the office and can better advise you there. Our pediatricians take their own call and are immediately available by cell phone. We have appreciated our families trying to take as good of care of us as we have of them. Obviously a call of absolute emergency should go to 911 first and then to us as you await the ambulance.
Insurance: The pediatricians at Preston Centre Pediatrics are not associated with any insurance plans. Nine years ago, the final contract expired as we were frustrated by the insurance industry's increasing control on the health care we delivered. Our primary focus is on the care of our patients and managed care insurance programs inhibit this care. We prefer to allow the individual needs of each child to dictate the treatment plan and not to succumb to the discretion of an insurance executive interested in his bottom line or the company's shareholders. This decision has allowed us to maintain a patient/parent focused practice with more time and attention available to address their problems and needs. We strive to deliver the very same care our parents would themselves provide if they had access to all the resources at our disposal.
School and Camp forms: Please bring your school, camp or athletic forms to your childs well care appointments. This is the optimal time for us to complete them and return them to you efficiently. When this is not possible please mail them, fax them(972) 860-3162 or deliver them to us as soon as they are available to you to prevent the last minute scramble (If you hand carry them in and we have a break we will certainly try to complete them on the spot). Our heaviest periods are prior to camp and prior to the start of the school year and we may experience a brief delay in completing forms at this time. We require a well care check-up yearly to enable our pediatricians to assess your child's health, growth and development, and vaccine status before completing these forms and prefer to do them around your child's birthday to spread them throughout the year.
Hospitals: Our pediatricians maintain full admitting privileges at Baylor University Medical Center* on Gaston Ave., Childrens Medical Center# on Motor St., Medical City Hospital*# on Forest Ln., and Presbyterian Hospital* on Walnut Hill Ln. Generally, newborn care is provided at the * hospitals and our patients are admitted for urgent inpatient care at # hospitals.
